For the Lakeland Fire District, the firm designed
a new substation on vacant land. The facility is in a residential
neighborhood, and the firm took into consideration the predominant
ranch-style homes that surrounded the site. This impacted the overall
size and design of the new firehouse. The firehouse is now situated
on the property to allow landscape buffers, ample setbacks and use
of lawn areas to keep parking away from the street line. The brick
and colonial trim, which imitates the style of the homes in the neighborhood,
details the façade. The substation design provides three bays, ready
room with kitchenette, office, bathrooms, storage and mechanical/generator
room within its 5,000 square foot layout. |
